Users accessing this site via a subscription or perpetual access purchase should consult the appropriate licence terms.
 
This Online Resource Licence is specific to SIPRI Yearbook Online  and overrides any other legal notice and privacy policy appearing elsewhere on Oxford University Press web sites.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE REGISTERING FOR ACCESS TO SIPRI YEARBOOK ONLINE
 
The following licence terms ("Licence") set out the terms on which Oxford University Press ("OUP") agrees to let the person, firm, corporation or other organisation accepting these terms ("you" or "your") access and use SIPRI Yearbook Online as such online resource corresponds to the appropriate annual print version of the yearbook (the "Online Resource").
 
Although the Online Resource is being provided free of charge, access is only available to customers who have purchased the corresponding print work. Therefore, an activation code is required to enable access. This can be found on the access control card accompanying the print work you have purchased.
 
BY REGISTERING THE ACTIVATION CODE YOU AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS LICENCE IN RESPECT OF THE ONLINE RESOURCE.
 
 
PLEASE UNDERSTAND, IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS LICENCE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS AND USE THE ONLINE RESOURCE. 
 
 
1.                     INFORMATION ABOUT OUP
 
1.1.               The Online Resource is operated by Oxford University Press ("OUP") of Great Clarendon Street, Oxford OX2 6DP.
 
2.                     ACCESSING AND USING THE ONLINE RESOURCE
 
2.1.               In consideration of you agreeing to abide by the terms and conditions of this Licence, OUP hereby grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Online Resource on the terms and conditions of this Licence.
 
2.2.               In using the Online Resource, you may:
 
2.2.1.          view, retrieve and display portions of the material published on the Online Resource for your own personal use;
 
2.2.2.          electronically save portions of the material published on the Online Resource for your own personal use;
 
2.2.3.          print out single copies of portions of the material published on the Online Resource for your own personal use.
 
in each case subject to any specific restrictions which appear in the Online Resource in respect of illustrations.
 
2.3.               You may not:
 
2.3.1.          remove or alter the copyright notices or other means of identification or disclaimers as they appear in the material published on the Online Resource;
 
2.3.2.          systematically make printed or electronic copies of multiple extracts of the material published on the Online Resource for any purpose;
 
2.3.3.          display or distribute any part of the material published on the Online Resource on any electronic network including, without limitation, the internet;
 
2.3.4.          use all or any part of the material published on the Online Resource for any commercial use;
 
For the purposes of this Clause, commercial use shall mean for the purposes of monetary reward (whether by or for you or any other person or entity) by means of sale, resale, loan, transfer, hire, or other form of exploitation of the material published on the Online Resource.
 
2.3.5.          permit anyone else to access or use the Online Resource using your username and password.
 
2.4.               You acknowledge that OUP is the owner or the licensee of all copyrights and all other intellectual property rights in the Online Resource, and in the material published on it and that this Licence does not convey to you any right, title or interest in all or any part of the Online Resource except for the right to use it in accordance with this Licence.
 
2.5.               Oxford University Press, Oxford and/or any other names of products or services provided by OUP and referred to on the Online Resource are either trade marks or registered trade marks of OUP.
2.6.               The activation code contained on the access token relating to the Online Resource is personal to you and not transferable. Each activation code may only be redeemed once. 
 
3.                     AVAILABILITY
 
3.1.               While OUP endeavours to ensure the availability of the Online Resource, OUP shall not be liable if for any reason the Online Resource is unavailable at any time or for any period.
 
3.2.               Access to the Online Resource may be suspended temporarily and without notice in the case of system failure, maintenance or repair or for reasons beyond OUP's control.
 
3.3.               Subject to earlier termination of this Licence, upon registration you may use the Online Resource in accordance with its terms for as long as the Online Resource continues to be available. However, OUP reserves the right to discontinue publishing the Online Resource at any time.
 
4.                     YOUR OBLIGATIONS
 
4.1.               You will create a user name and password when you register. You will be responsible for the confidentiality and use of your user name and password used to access the Online Resource following registration. You must not disclose your user name and password to anyone else.
 
4.2.               You will be responsible, at your cost, for making all arrangements necessary for you to have access to the Online Resource including without limitation, obtaining all equipment and software licences necessary for you to access and use the Online Resource. You should use your own virus protection software.
 
5.                     PRIVACY
 
5.1.               OUP will process any information about you which may be obtained as part of your use of the Online Resource in accordance with OUP's Privacy Policy
 
6.                     DISCLAIMERS
 
6.1.               OUP does not warrant or represent the accuracy and completeness of the material on the Online Resource. OUP may make changes to the material on the Online Resource at any time without notice. The material on the Online Resource may be out of date, and OUP makes no commitment to update such material. 
 
6.2.               OUP does not warrant or represent that the operation of the Online Resource will be uninterrupted or error free nor that the Online Resource or the materials published on it are free from viruses or other forms of harmful computer code.
 
6.3.               The material on the Online Resource is provided "as is", without any conditions, warranties or other terms of any kind. Accordingly, to the maximum extent permitted by law, OUP provides you with the Online Resource on the basis that OUP excludes all representations, warranties, conditions and other terms (including, without limitation, the conditions implied by law of satisfactory quality and fitness for purpose) which, but for this legal notice, might have effect in relation to the Online Resource.
 
6.4.               Where the Online Resource contains links to other websites and resources provided by third parties, these links provided in good faith and for information only. If you use these links, you leave the Online Resource. OUP has no control over the availability or content of those websites or resources and accepts no responsibility for them or for any loss or damage that may arise from your use of them.
 
7.                     LIABILITY
 
7.1.               Subject to Clause 7.2 below, OUP will not be liable to you or any third party in any circumstances for any loss of profits, loss or corruption of data, loss of business, loss of goodwill and/or similar losses or pure economic loss, or for any special, indirect or consequential loss costs, damages, charges or expenses however arising.
 
7.2.               OUP does not seek to limit or exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation or any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
 
8.                     TERMINATION
 
8.1.               If you or any of your Authorised Users breach any of the terms of this Licence, your right to use the Online Resource will automatically terminate with immediate effect.
 
8.2.               Upon expiry or termination of this Licence, you will immediately cease using the Online Resource and delete all stored copies of the material published on the Online Resource from your computer. You are not required to delete or destroy printouts containing materials published on the Online Resource.
 
8.3.               Termination shall not affect or prejudice the accrued rights of the parties as at termination, or the continuation after termination of any provision expressly stated to survive or implicitly surviving termination.
 
9.                     GENERAL PROVISIONS
 
9.1.               The rights provided under this Licence are granted to you only. You may not transfer, assign or otherwise dispose of this Licence or any of your rights or obligations under it without OUP's prior written consent.
 
9.2.               This Licence is not intended to benefit anyone other than the parties to it and, in particular, no term of this Licence shall be enforceable under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 by a third party.
 
9.3.               If any provision of this Licence is determined by any competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable to any extent, such provision will to that extent be severed from the remaining provisions which will continue to be valid to the fullest extent permitted by law.
 
9.4.               This Licence represents the entire agreement and understanding between the parties and supersedes any previous agreement relating to the subject matter of this Licence. You hereby acknowledge and agree that in entering into this Licence, you have not relied on, and shall have no remedy in respect of, any statement, representation, warranty or understanding (whether negligently made or not) of any person (whether party to this Licence or not) other than as expressly set out in this Licence.
 
9.5.               This Licence shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. Disputes arising in connection with this Licence shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
