SIPRI Yearbook 2014
Preface
This, the 45th edition of the SIPRI Yearbook, was finalized against a particularly uncertain background, with the security environment deteriorating in several regions and countries. Events during 2013 suggest that we may still be close to the beginning of what could become a far-reaching transformation in the international security environment. Producing a yearbook means trying to identify and document key developments, and analysing and placing in context important changes as they are taking place. It is a formidable task.
