SIPRI Yearbook 2011

I write this preface to the 42nd edition of the SIPRI Yearbook with great pride and pleasure. I had the honour to take up the role as Chairman of the SIPRI Governing Board in September 2010. In this role I am succeeding Ambassador Rolf Ekéus, who stepped down after serving his full two five-year terms as Chairman with great distinction. On behalf of the SIPRI Governing Board and all the SIPRI staff, I thank Rolf for his dedicated service to SIPRI and look forward to continuing to work with him.
